Snohomish Knitters Guild

Winter Holiday Community Crafting Project

11/30/2014

This winter, rather than a gift exchange among members as we've done in years past, the guild will instead be participating in a more community-centric project. We'll be knitting, crocheting, weaving, or otherwise crafting items to donate as a group to Evergreen Manor.

The guild always encourages its members to reach out to the community around us, year round and in as many ways as we each can. In this case, it's a chance for us to show our strengths en masse and help a really great cause. We'll be keeping members of our community stay warm and have something to treasure during a truly difficult time in their lives. Every item we make and give will not only chase away the chill, but show that person that there are people who care with a solid object that they can hold on to. So not only will we be showing our strength, but lending a lasting bit of it to each recipient, too. Sounds awesome, right?
Now that we've covered what we're doing this year and why, I'm sure there are quite a few wondering just what types of things they'd really need, and what projects would fit those needs. Luckily, we happen to have the ever-helpful Katherine Spies-Asaif to the rescue. This project has been close to her heart, and she was kind enough to put together a  Power Point presentation to walk us through how to get this done.

I know what a great group we are, how talented and generous. I know that we can make this a reality. So whether you can manage one smaller item, or a whole matching set, I urge you all to participate and to show our community that the Snohomish Knitters Guild is truly a force to be reckoned with if we put our minds to something. Put your mind to warming the hands, heads, and hearts of people who are fighting to make a difference in their own lives.
