Helpful Advice from Previous Exhibitors and Judges
- Make sure your item is CLEAN and does not show any wear. Be especially careful of odors (even fragrant herbs) and pet hair. Judges will deduct marks for any of these faults at their discretion.
- Check your item from all perspectives (inside/outside, right side/wrong side). Judges will often turn your items inside out during judging to examine both sides in detail.
- Hide those ends! Small tails poking out of the fabric (on any side) may lead to points deducted in the judging.
- If your item features any unusual design aspects (asymetrical, adjusted shape/length/edge, atypical fiber content for season), attach a 3 x 5 index card (with a safety pin) to your item. This allows the judge to know that your unusual design aspect was intentional and not a mistake/error. If a card is not included, these things may be taken into account by the judge.
- Items are judged on Workmanship (60%), Presentation (25%) and Design/Material Compatibility (15%).
