Annual Knit Event of the Year —  Take the Yarn Train!
Date of Yarn Crawl: Saturday, 16 January 2010

About the Crawl
The Seattle to Portland Yarn Train started as a small knit group's day trip to Portland to search for yarn and books. It has grown into a tour of 125+ folks that are up for a fun-filled day-long adventure of knitting and shopping. As of 2009, this event became a sponsored event of the Snohomish Knitters Guild.

The start location is Seattle, King Street Station (Amtrak) on Saturday 16 January 2010 at 7am (you read that right!). You'll have 3 hours to knit on the train with a load of other knitters. We arrive in Portland around 11am, in the Pearl district, where three shops are waiting to welcome us. All within walking distance*. In addition to the wonderful yarn stores, there are many delights in the Pearl district. Be sure to check out Powell's bookstore.

After spending about 6 hours in the Portland Pearl district, it's time to head back to the train station and head home, for another 3 hours of quality knitting time!

See the related link below for information about last year's event.

 *The fine print:
Please note, this is not a for-profit enterprise, it's a really fun event kept at as low a cost as possible. We are unable to accomodate alternate departure points for this tour due to Amtrak tour limitations. Tickets are not transferable or refundable. If you miss the train, you are on your own. That said, we haven't had even a near miss in the past! It's a very fun event!
