In the heart of southern Africa lies Great Zimbabwe, a silent witness to the intricate tapestry of an ancient civilization. Initially dubbed the work of a mythical white society by colonialists, the city's true narrative is one of African brilliance and resilience. Built with dry stone walls and towers, Great Zimbabwe was a center of trade, drawing merchants from China and beyond. In the 19th century, misguided colonialists, driven by arrogance, plundered the city for gold, clinging to unfounded theories of biblical or Phoenician origins. The scientific community, appalled by this abuse, eventually challenged these baseless claims. Despite the devastation, Great Zimbabwe stands tall today, a symbol of African endurance.
